About this space Step back in time to 1956! Climb aboard this authentic Douglas DC-6 Air Freighter, a legendary aircraft that spent decades hauling critical fuel and cargo to remote Alaskan villages.

Now retired from the skies, it has been converted into a unique 2-bedroom, 1-bath home. Located on our active private runway, you can sleep surrounded by aviation history, explore the original cockpit, and enjoy modern comforts inside a fuselage that has circled the globe.

The space ✈️ The "Freighter" Layout:

  • The Entry: Enter via the original Aft Cargo Loading Door—just like the freight used to! You'll step into a Mud Room (perfect for winter gear) with a washer and dryer.
  • Living Area: A spacious open-plan living room and dining area inside the main fuselage.
  • Kitchen: Fully equipped for cooking meals during your stay.
  • The Cockpit: Fully preserved! Take a seat in the Captain's chair and imagine flying through the Alaskan wilderness in the 50s.

🛏️ Sleeping Quarters (2 Bed / 1 Bath):

  • Master Suite: Comfortable and private.
  • Guest Bedroom: Perfect for friends or family.
  • Bathroom: Full residential bathroom (no cramped airplane lavatories here!).

📍 The Property:

  • Located on a 1,700ft private active airstrip.
  • Outdoor Deck: Yes, you have access to the wing deck!
  • Parking: Plenty of room for your car, truck, or even your own bush plane.
  • Activities: Access to hiking trails (summer) and snow machine/XC ski networks (winter) right from the property. We are 10 minutes from restaurants/groceries and 1 hour from Anchorage.

Guest access You have exclusive access to the entire DC-6 aircraft, including the wing deck and the cockpit.

Other things to note

  • Industrial History: This was a working cargo plane for over 50 years. We have preserved many original industrial parts, switches, and metal edges for authenticity. Because of this, the space is not child-proof. It was built for cargo, not crawling babies. Please supervise children closely to avoid bumps or scrapes on original equipment.
  • Guest Fees: The base rate covers 2 guests. Additional guests incur a fee of $50/person per night.
  • Communication: We answer messages 9am-6pm. Your host is a pilot and may be flying, so please use the contact methods provided in the house manual.
  • Tours: We offer flight tours, glacier landings, and bear viewing directly from the property! Ask us about booking an adventure.

Location

The easiest way to access the property is the north entrance off of Hawk Lane (1.8 miles west of the Parks highway). This is better than the 311 address that is provided. Here is the Google Maps link: https://goo.gl/maps/9oYgQqGrc68SDowN7 When you enter from Hawk Lane, you will go through a gate, right turn onto the driveway, go past both the white and yellow planes, and follow the posted signs down the runway to airplane DC-6.
